Yeah, a shoe tracker would be the most obvious thing for Nike to add. They do after all make money from selling shoes, so why in the world would they not want to remind people when it is timer for a new pair? And yes, if they had any sort of shoe indicator in the data, I would use it.

I am not sure it would be too much hassle. Just set it up so it assumes you run with one pair, unless you click the "add shoe" button, then it will require a shoe to be selected for each run.

However it would be best if Nike added it to their site like the "how was your run" icons. Just click the Shoe 1 or 2 or 3 etc. icon after you upload. I would think you could then pull that data to slowgeek.

I am actually quite surprised they have not done that yet. They could send you a $5 off coupon for Nike Shoes when you hit 300 miles on your current pair.

Sorry for the long winded reply, new here and really loving all the data. Thanks

A relatively simple solution could be to add an initial value for a shoe that the runner sets for himself. The runner would have to remember the mileage already run with his shoes but that should not be too difficult if you change shoes only for the season. You would of course have to change shoe parameters before you upload the run with different shoes. That would leave every hassle to the runner, so she/he could decide.

for runner's that alternate shoes (quite common) it makes shoe tracker relatively useless though

It has been requested a few times. I am just not sure how to implement it in such a way that it won't be quite painful to use. Right now you don't have to do anything. Just set the date you bought your shoes and you are done. With multiple trackers you would have to label each run somehow so I would know which tracker to assign the distance to. That seems like too much hassle.

Your shoe tracker is a great tool rlerdorf.
Could it be technically possible to activate a multiple shoes tracker, for those like me who use different pair of shoes in the same time. It's just a suggestion.
