Is it possible to delete runs from Slowgeek? The date of my iPod was set to future by my child and now one of my runs is made one year ahead. I was able to upload the run correctly by changing the dates in it as well as to remove it from nikeplus, but I still have it here in Slowgeek.

This also brings back memories of the Leaderboard, that would be an awesome addition, not sure if that is a possibility, but you always astound us with your wizarding skills rlerdorf

Is there anyone here with an iPod Touch or iPhone that has upgraded to iOS4?

If you have upgraded, what model do you have and does Nike+ still work for you?

I was going to upgrade but mine it failed on the backup. When I went to the Apple support forums to workout how to fix it I saw a number of people are having problems with Nike+ since upgrading. It is hard to tell if the problems are widespread as typically only people report problems, they don't report the absence of problems.

is there any way to analyze Nike+ sensor data to determine how long the ipod was paused before resuming the workout? Normally, I just pause the unit when at a red light & dont really care about the 40 or so seconds that have elapsed but yesterday I paused at a water fountain & then didnt resume until I took another water break after another 3 or so miles. My total mileage was listed at 7.7 but was trying to figure out my total mileage by dividing my pace by the mysterious elapsed time of the "pause".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason my Nike+ iPod Nano will sometimes end a workout even though I still have miles to go. I reprogram the distance for what I calculate is remaining and start a new workout. I wish I could just go into history and start a workout from where I stopped. Anyway, two questions. 1) Is it a faulty sensor? It always happens when I stop for water, ironically. 2) Can I combine the two workouts into one on Slowgeek using my Mac? (I don't think it can be done in iTunes- I've tried searching all Apple forums).

Since mid-july my local weather station (Braunschweig, Germany, EDVE) shows no data in wunderground and in slowgeek too. Seems that the station is broke. I tried changing my station to EDDV (Hannover) in my personal profile and after a refresh, weather data was available for my july runs. The location shown for my runs with weather station EDDV is still Braunschweig (which is ok since I ran there) except for my latest run, where it shows Hannover (location of weather station EDDV). Where does slowgeek take the location info from? Is it the location information given in my personal profile or the location of the weather station? Can I change this information somehow? I hope that my local station will be ok soon so I can switch back to EDVE.

Hi! I have to say I'm always so excited to exit from Nike+ after uploading my runs to come over here and see the run graph you make. It isn't perfect, but it is always MUCH closer to accurate. I was wondering, would you be interested in having data on what I actually ran to see if there were any ways to tweek the code you use to read the raw data to make it even more accurate? It may not be possible but I thought I'd offer just in case.

Also, I don't suppose you get to be on the inside loop to hear when the next update to the sportsband code is planned and what fixes they are rolling out with that? (And mostly if/when they hope to roll out the 'snap to grid' fix?) Of course, they won't ever answer that question on their own forums when I ask.

G'day. In the last week or so the weather icons on runs (Sunny, Cloudy, etc.) are way bigger than they used to be. They are huge! Additionally, when looking at the summary page the text on and around the graphs appears blurred - it hurts my eyes to read it for any length of time. The text "cal" overlaps with my location.

I thought this happened when I went to Firefox 3.6, but I just checked with IE 6.0 and on Firefox 3.5.7.

Nike doesn't provide one, and they've stated as such, so I'm looking to 3rd party sites to see if anyone has found a way to do it yet. It couldn't be that hard could it? Nike has all the information there, including the date of each run.

But it doesn't look like Slowgeek offers one either. Does anyone know a site that does this?

The following applies to folks that use Nike+ with iPod Touch or iPhone (I guess it could apply to iPod Nano, but I don't have one).

Those that use an iPod Touch or iPhone for recording their runs with Nike+ will know that the interface for starting and stopping runs is somewhat clunky. To start a run you have to use the touch screen which can be problematic in itself (and why I started using a Nike+ iPod Watch Remote - but that's another story). To take splits during the run you hit the home button. This is probably the best working part of the system and you also get spoken feedback. Stopping a run is even more troublesome. You have to first press the home button to expose the touch screen interface, then pause the run by touching the button on the screen. You then have to unlock your screen so you can end the workout. I find that even if I pause the workout and the end of the run, the iPod does weird things and adds time to the run.

For my run yesterday things got really messed up. Part of the problem was my fault as there was a crowd of people standing around my finish point and I hit the home button a few metres too early. I then hit the pause button a tad late - probably added a few seconds to my time. I think my run time should have been around 20:43. I had a last click of 20:40.71 and I saw 20:46 on the iPod as the pause. When I later unlocked my iPod and ended the workout, it had my run time listed as 23:05. I have no idea how it came up with this number as I hadn't touched the iPod for 20 minutes after the run. When I inspected the data, it had the pause at 21:43.93. Again, I can't understand where that came from.

The bottom line was this run as is was unacceptable. It was going to completely mess my statistics - average pace was 4:45 min/km when I have been running around 4:20 min/km. I had thought I would probably upload the run so I could get my splits and then delete it from Nike+.

I then wondered if someone had recently come up with a way to upload runs independent of iTunes. I knew it could be done with iPod Nano but iPod Touch/iPhone was more of a problem. I went to one of the upload sites and noticed a FAQ talking about iPod Touch and that support wasn't there, yet. In the comments section, there was a point to a Windows applet called iPhone Folders which adds to Windows Explorer and it lets you access data on the iPod Touch/iPhone. I installed it (rebooted) and sure enough I could access a lot of data directly on my iPod, including all the XML files for ALL my runs, including the latest one that I hadn't yet uploaded.

I pulled the XML file from yesterday's run and opened it up. While the content was much the same as the XML files pulled down from Nike+, the format was slightly different but close enough that I could work out all the fields. It included summary information, the kilometre and mile splits, my user clicks, my pause (at the odd time) and the 10 second intervals which are used for the graph.

I analysed the data working out which bits were "correct" and which bits did not reflect my run at all. I took the last split a few metres before the finish and I was going to round it up to 10 metres, using the pace of the last split. I then noticed that I had a mile split 19 metres past the last split, so I decided to use that as the end point. I know that was further than I had run so that would be fair. I worked out long it would take to go 19 metres at the pace of the last split and made that my time. I then worked out the overall pace. I then updated the XML file with the new time, pace and distance and also removed the extra extended data showing a minute or so of zero pace.

I replaced the XML file on the iPod and then synchronised with iTunes. iTunes uploaded the run to Nike+. I refreshed the in SlowGeek and there was my run showing representative times rather than the mess that the iPod had originally. I was pretty pleased that I was able to fix the incorrect data.

As I was writing this, I realised that I should have just used the duration listed for the last mile split as it was probably more accurate. It had 20:43.75 for 4.829 km (3 miles), so I updated the XML file, wrote it to the iPod, synched, uploaded and refreshed. The run automatically got replaced with the updated data. It is nice to know that I can update one that has been uploaded already - although I don't know if I can only do the most recent run. I will have a play later and see if I can fix an earlier run where the iPod did funny things.

So, in summary.

* I installed iPhone Folders ( http://iphonefolders.com/ ) and rebooted (note, this works on XP, Vista and 32bit Win 7 only)
* copied the XML for the run from
iPhone folders\<iPod Name>\iTunes_Control\Device\Trainer\Workouts\Empeds\<empid>\latest
to my hard disk
* updated the data in the XML file
* copied it back to
iPhone folders\<iPod Name>\iTunes_Control\Device\Trainer\Workouts\Empeds\<empid>\latest
* synched with iTunes as normal

Once a run has been synched, the XML file gets moved from the \latest folder to \synched so when I did the further update, I copied the updated XML to \latest and deleted the old one from \synched

I hope this is of value to people. In theory, this process could be used to add runs where you didn't have your iPod but you'd have to make up the data yourself, or modify one of the previous ones and update the relevant data.

Can anyone recommend a program to allow me to copy files to/from the touch? I'd prefer not to jailbreak the thing but if I have to....

Looking to put some manually entered runs up since I'm also using a Garmin 305 to track some runs as well.

Thx

I set an arbitrary cut-off today of 14 months. If someone hasn't run for the past 14 months, I deleted their data from Slowgeek. That still leaves 70482 accounts. The reason being that it takes forever to check the Nike backend for new runs for 90k users. I do prioritize it, so people who have a Slowgeek password get priority and also accounts whose profiles are being checked regularly get a higher priority. But, I still need to check them all eventually.

I was 13 minutes into a run this morning and I hit the button on my iPod Touch to get a split when instead of getting feedback on my time, distance and pace, the timing had stopped. Thinking I'd accidentally paused the "workout" I hit the green button only to have the iPod start looking for the sensor. I assumed the sensor had died and continued my run - fortunately I'd started my wrist stopwatch so I was still able to time my run (a personal best). I was hoping that at least the splits to the point that it died but it was all gone from the iPod by the time I got home.

After playing with the iPod at home, I'm now wondering if maybe it was the iPod that messed up (as the Nike app was doing weird things). I powered the iPod off and on again (which I had done before this and every run) and now it can talk to the sensor.

So... how long does a sensor normally last? Could it be on its way out, or should it have plenty of life left?

I haven't uploaded all of my runs to Nike+, but there wouldn't be more that 20 km missing - so I've done around 260 miles/420km, maybe 32 hours all around 8 months.

My last run looks too flat on your graph. I am using the Sportband. I understand that the issues with the Sportband software. Is this what I'm seeing. I ran a known distance which was pretty close to what was shown on the band. Am I possibly having sensor problems?

I heard a rumor that Nike may be introducing a link to Droid Phones. Have you heard anything about this?

BTW Your site is great. Thanks for everything.
