You will now find a twitter button on the run page for a run, and also on your profile page for your latest run. If you have a Twitter account you can send a tweet about a run very easily now. There is also an auto-tweet feature coming which you can enable in your profile settings . That one isn't quite working yet. I will let you know when it is.

Unfortunately OAuth is broken for the time being. See http://oauth.net/advisories/2009-1
So, this feature won't work unless you managed to get your access token before Twitter disabled their OAuth request token mechanism.

Ok, Twitter OAuth is working again.

I've noticed something wrong with the tweets. I didn't notice it until today, but the timestamp on the tweet is 3 hours earlier than the actual run (and the time is correct on the graph). Example:
    ran 4.12 mi @ 8'46" (6.63 km @ 5'27") at 05:32 on Apr.25 http://slowgeek.com/r161257... #nikeplus
If you check the link, you'll see I actually ran at 8:32. And, while I may run early Monday-Friday, there's no way I'm getting up at 5:30 on a Saturday!

oops, you are right. I was using the normalized run time, not the local one. Should be fixed now.

Ok, auto-tweeting might actually be working now. There is a cron job that runs at 37 minutes after each hour and will tweet your last run (if it hasn't already been tweeted) if you enable auto-tweeting from your profile.

Confirmed! Autotweet worked this AM, with correct timezone on the tweet!

Fantastic feature, I must say it does help motivate me to go out for runs a lot more knowing others will be able to see how much effort I've been putting in!

Just a request for the future - would it be possible to perhaps select what information is Tweeted? I'd love to be able to automatically tweet distance with total time taken, though I'm not too concerned with calories expended so if this ever gets implemented I'd be over the moon.

Thanks rlerdorf for this possibility. Did you plan to do the same with Facebook ?

Quadra, the simplest way would be to just install the Twitter Facebook app that sets your Facebook status to your last Tweet.

How to do without twiter account ? No other way (don't want to worry you, if technically it's possible and if you can do it, it will be with pleasure).
