My last run looks too flat on your graph. I am using the Sportband. I understand that the issues with the Sportband software. Is this what I'm seeing. I ran a known distance which was pretty close to what was shown on the band. Am I possibly having sensor problems?

I heard a rumor that Nike may be introducing a link to Droid Phones. Have you heard anything about this?

BTW Your site is great. Thanks for everything.

Yes, graphing data from the Sportband really is kind of pointless.

If you look at the raw data (the grey line) you can see that your Sportband only recorded 3 distinct pace values. 10:41 minutes/mile, 8:49 min/mile and 13:09 min/mile. The middle 10:41 value is near your overall average, and your noisy 8:49 peaks just happened to almost exactly cancel out your noisy 13:09 valleys. There is very little I can do with lousy data like that.

Compare it to my run from this morning:

I ran a very steady pace after a slow start, but you can see the grey raw data has many different levels.

And no, I haven't heard anything about any Android thing. But I don't pay much attention to anything phone related. I don't have a cell phone and have no use for them.

thanks for the rply. My question really stems from the difference in look from my 4/23 run and previous runs. There seems to be many more peaks and valleys in the previous runs.

Yeah, but with the Sportband it is pretty random which value it will snap to. If you look at your Mar.31 run, you can see the same trend for a good part of the run.

I think it was just coincidence that you managed an entire run that mostly snapped to your center value as opposed to having a couple of snaps in a row to your peaks or valleys which is what causes the polynomial regression to move.

The Apple store has refurbished ones for $99. Or, you can pick up a previous generation one from Ebay for less than that. If you just need it for running, the newer generation ones really don't give you anything over the older ones other than a nicer screen.
